Los Angeles is the largest city in California State and the second-largest urban area in the United States. It is located in the southern part of the state on the Pacific Ocean. It is the seat of Los Angeles County. Geographically, it extends more than 40 miles from the mountains to the sea. Los Angeles is a truly cosmopolitan city with a high percentage of its population originating from other parts of the world. The alpha world city has approximately four million people living within the city boundary and many more commute to the city from smaller neighboring towns for work and other purposes every day. Los Angeles is a major hub of shipping, manufacturing, industry, and finance, and is world- renowned in the entertainment and communications fields. It is a favorite vacation destination and attracts millions of tourists to the area each year from all over the world. Apart from the movie studios and other landmarks associated with the movie industry, points of interest include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the La Brea Tar Pits (famous for Ice Age fossils), Disneyland (Anaheim), and Hollywood racetracks. Places of Interest:- Griffith Park Griffith Park is located on the edge of Hollywood. It contains recreational facilities, a planetarium and observatory, nature areas, and various family attractions. You can take pony rides, nature hikes or scenic drives in the park. Griffith Park has a great view of the famous Hollywood sign! The planetarium and observatory offer science exhibits and various shows throughout the day and is a popular place for viewing the Los Angeles City lights at night. Hollywood Los Angeles is the film and entertainment capital of the world and the name 'Hollywood' is the embodiment of glamour, success and money, the place where films are made, television shows are recorded and stars take up residence. The famous Hollywood sign on the hills above the city has become the enduring symbol of the movie industry and of Los Angeles itself - the 50ft-high (15m) white letters can be seen from miles away. Los Angeles Zoo The Los Angeles Zoo has more than 1,500 animals, birds and reptiles in natural habitat settings. It is located near the junction of the Golden State and Ventura Freeways inside Griffith Park. The Tram is a good way to travel around the park. Be sure to see Adventure Island, a new children's zoo that showcases animals native to the Southwestern United States.
